Lotus Omega

Lotus Omega

What do you get if you put a 377HP twin-turbo straight six mated to a six speed Corvette ZR1 transmission into a mid-size four door sedan? Well, you get a very fast car! And that is what the Lotus Omega is - 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 176 mph. Opel got some help from Lotus into turning a regular Opel Omega (Cadillac Catera in the US) into the fastest four door sedan in the world. This is one of my favorite cars - a very fast sleeper with some comfort. Only 950 cars were made during 1990 to 1992. It hasn't been matched until Jaguar released its 8 cylinder XJR (the six cylinder was too slow), Mercedes came out with its E55 AMG and BMW came out with its latest M5.
